Western Indian Ocean Mangroves report

Working with Wetlands International we created the first ever western Indian Ocean report to quantify and map mangrove blue carbon, drivers of change and restoration potential in the region. This follows the release of the first ‘State of the world mangroves’ report, in 2021.

Inform and act

Built upon facts and raw data from the region, this report focuses on Kenya, Mozambique, Madagascar and Tanzania to highlight the impact of mangrove loss and how important they truly are in climate and social change. The aim of the report is to increase awareness of mangrove decline and potential; inform conservation and restoration efforts at policy and planning levels across the region; as well as scaling up action on the ground!
