Navigating the Future of Mangrove Restoration
The Global Mangrove Alliance (GMA) is essentially a ‘super group’ of some of the world’s most influential conservation organisations. They have joined forces to help restore and preserve one of our most precious ecosystems - and allies in the fight against climate change - mangroves. We had the privilege of working with the GMA this year on their seminal and just released ‘Best Practice Guidelines for Global Mangrove Restoration’.

The challenge
Picture this: 245 pages of meticulously researched, densely packed, but only lightly formatted content. The GMA needed a design partner to transform their research into an engaging, easy to navigate and visually captivating guide for those actively restoring mangroves on the front lines.
The solution
First we read through the guide, making sure we understood its tone and cadence. From here we began to wireframe the layout. Breathing life into it using the already established visual identity we established last year.
As this guide will be an important companion for those managing mangrove restoration, we placed a premium on quick and easy navigation. Our greatest assets in this task - colour and consistency. We wielded it skillfully, assigning different colours to each distinct section and infusing vibrancy and hierarchy into even the most complex chunks of information.
The impact
There’s no doubt these guidelines will serve as an essential resource for those undertaking vital mangrove restoration work. And we hope that our thoughtful design choices, and focus on clear navigation and consistency, will help ensure their success.
